Reggae

Instantly recognizable, reggae music is indigeneous to Jamaica. It's roots, however, are based in R&B, particularly of the New Orleans flavor. Jamaican musicians heard R&B from New Orleans on their transistor radios, and transformed it into the earliest forms of reggae. Reggae surged in popularity in the 60's, and enjoyed another boom in the 80's. Ever popular in Jamaica, reggae seems to always be in style.
