Laidlaw
Formed: 1992 in Orange County, CA
Laidlaw was formed in the early 90’s, just as the 80’s metal craze was dying down and grunge was becoming a nationwide movement. They gigged clubs in L.A. for years, lost in the crowd and spinning their wheels. They were rejected by a lot of recording companies before Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue heard their demo and signed them to his label, Americoma Records. They opened for Motley Crue, gaining exposure as a Southern rock act. They went into the studio to produce First Big Picnic, and released the album in 1999. The album is drenched in Southern-style rock and roll, reminiscent of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers. With Sixx’s help, Laidlaw promises to be around as brand new old-style rock and roll band.
