September 1996 in Memphis, TN

Saliva was formed in Memphis by five guys with the same goals; each member wanted to craft hard-driving rock and roll with thought-provoking lyrics and guitar riffs that stick in the mind of listeners. And, a few months after the band was formed, Saliva had the opportunity to show people what their music was made of. The band were finalist in the 1997 Grammy Showcase sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. They went from Austin, Texas to New York City playing their music in the national band competition, and were eventually offered a record deal. The band chose to put out its debut CD on their own label, but eventually they would sign with Uptown/Universal, and release the smash hit CD, Every Six Seconds.
