Trent ReznorBorn: May 17, 1965 Mercer, PA, USA | |
At the young age of five, when Reznor's parents divorced, he went to live with his grandparents. Trent showed a keen interest in music from the onset of his childhood, and his grandparents indulged his interest with piano lessons, and later saxophone and tuba lessons. He began playing synthesizers in local bands, once out of high school, and was usually cast as a backing vocalist and synthesizer player. After one year of college, Trent decided to become a full-time musician. Milling around from band to band, Reznor had to get a regular-joe job to support himself. Working as a custodian in a recording studio, Trent was allowed to put down a couple of things on tape one night, playing all of the instruments himself. And this is the path Trent has stayed on. Only now, Trent doesn't have to ask for permission to use the studio. And, he's no longer working as a custodian. Trent has helped launch such controversial acts as Marilyn Manson and has given David Bowie's career a breath of fresh air. Single-handedly bringing the goth scene into the mainstream, Trent is worshipped by an underground of black lipstick-wearing bisexuals in leather. Though many rumours always circulate about Trent's sexuality, religious beliefs, and mental health, he is quite serious, intelligent and rational. His career has been a long time in the making, but he has shown that he can endure with such hits as Down In It and Head Like a Hole.
