Britney SpearsBorn: December 2, 1981 Kentwood, LA, USA | |
Britney Spears was born to perform. She began performing in church choirs and local singing groups, and soon moved up to the world of local television. At the young age of 8, she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club, even though she was too young to meet the age requirement for the show. The producers were impressed with her showmanship, however, and they helped her get into the prestigious Off-Broadway Dance Center and Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. After some time and experience, Britney again auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club, this time successfully. She remained on the show for a couple of seasons before continuing her career as a solo performer. In 1999, she signed to Jive Records and released ...Baby One More Time. The album went over tremendously with teenage pop fans, and Britney was catapulted to the top of the teen idol heap. In 2000, she released Oops!...I Did It Again, which has also received much fanfare. In 2001, she released Britney, in an effort to try and be more adult (if one considers slutty and horny to be more adult). Britney has broken through to many audiences, varying her performances from the barely-dressed songstress at the MTV Music Video Awards to the funny teen princess on Saturday Night Live.
