Dr. Dre

Born: February 18, 1965
Compton, CA, USA

Dr. Dre is attributed with starting the whole gangsta rap movement in the late 80's. Along with the rest of the rap group N.W.A., they made rap move away from the party-mode of the old school, and wrote songs about the reality of their surroundings, including gangs, violence, drugs and delinquence. As a rapper, Dre has never been the fastest or the slickest. As a producer, however, he has a knack for picking out top-level entertainers, and seems to always know what it is that hiphop fans want next. Producing such hot acts as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Eminem, Dr. Dre is one of the longest running names in hiphop history.
