One of the top 20 artists of the 60s. Joined US Navy 1948. Paid $17.00 for first Guitar while on shore leave in Seattle. Earned his tuition in veterinary medicine by playing and singing in local club. Had his first hit record,Such A Fool in 1953. Invited to join the Grand Ole Opry in 1958. He considered Pro Baseball prior to joining the Navy.
