Carlos SantanaBorn: July 20, 1947 Autlan de Navarro, Mexico | |
Carlos Santana comes from a musical background. His father was a mariachi violinist, and taught Carlos to play. And, by the time Carlos arrived in America, he was already playing the guitar and immitating his heroes; B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, and T-Bone Walker. In San Francisco, Santana started the Santana Blues Band. This band grew in popularity and went on to perform at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in 1969. Santana went on to an illustrious career, which he is still reaping the benefits. He has had 14 gold albums and 9 platinum albums, and is receiving more radio airplay now than he's ever seen before.
