Twickenham, Surrey, England

Brian began his musical education at the age of five, with piano lessons. Piano was followed by the ukulele, and then guitar. Brian learned how to play the acoustic guitar, and later he and his father would build their own electric guitar while Brian was still in junior high. While in college, Brian would form a band called Smile, which would become the vehicle that would introduce him to the members that would become Queen. While in college, Brian earned two degrees in physics and mathematics. After forming Queen, Brian would go on to make more than twenty albums with them. Intermittently, May would release a solo effort or side project that he had worked on, but he is best known for his beautiful and inspiring guitar work with Queen. After Freddie Mercury's death in 1991, Brian completed a solo album entitled "Back to the Light". Brian also formed the Brian May Band, and toured extensively as an opening act for Guns 'N Roses, as well as headlining in Europe and Asia.
