Ace FrehleyBorn: April 27, 1951 Bronx, NY, USA | |
Ace Frehley was born Paul Daniel Frehley in the Bronx section of New York City. He grew up in a very musically inclined family, and he had a natural inclination toward drawing and sketching. He was also rebellious, and was thrown out of more than one high school. He was involved with street gangs as a youth, and had scrapes with the law. Music was his saviour, however, and when he began playing the guitar, he was hooked. He roadied for Mitch Mitchell, who played the drums for Jimi Hendrix. He drew influence from Hendrix, Pete Townsend, and several others. He went through a few different bands before auditioning for the band that would become KISS. The other three members liked him immediately, and the four of them formed the band that would create an outrageous look and sound that would go down in rock folklore.
