The PME-40X is a modular powered pedalboard which holds 4 effects modules. There is an on/off pedal for each module, as well as an overall bypass pedal. It has mono input and stereo output.

There were many modules available, which slide conveniently into the unit. A set screw is included with each module for permanent installation, if desired.

The modules available include chorus, analog delay, digital chorus, digital delay, phaser, flanger, noise gate, compressor, distortion, overdrive, graphic eq, wave shaper (a fuzz effect), octave V (a octave with fuzz), dist wah (an envelope follower/auto wah with distortion), ext selector (an effects loop for adding other manufacturers' effects), and a blank module for use as a spacer when less that modules are in use.

All effects are analog unless specifically denoted in the name of the module. Some modules, like the chorus and flanger, are stereo, and they have stereo printed on the module.

All of the effects are of excellent quality. The ability to mix and match effects, as well as change the order of effects, is nice. The familiar stomp box controls, combined with the convenience of a powered pedalboard, makes this a very useful sonic tool.
